Dear Members and Viewers,

The Real News started in Toronto, and half of The Real News staff are Canadian.  We know that since 2009, we've had a lot of focus on American and international news, but our Canadian roots are very important.

In the coming months, we plan to increase our Canadian field reports and interviews with Canadian guests and on Canadian subjects.  But, to do this, we need to hire additional Canadian journalists and producers.

We also want to have a special focus on indigenous peoples' movements to defend their rights and on Prime Minister Harper and federal government domestic and foreign policy.  An example of the kind of programming that we want to do is the series of interviews we did with Yves Ingler that focused on Steven Harper's foreign policy.

Will you help us achieve this goal?  We are trying to raise $100,000 by May 2, which includes a $50,000 matching grant.  Every dollar that is donated is matched, but we only have until May 2 to reach our goal.

If you haven't already donated, please take a minute to do so.  We can't make The Real News without you.

Best,

Paul Jay and The Real News Network team
